AUBURNDALE, Fla. (970 WFLA) - Polk County sheriff's officials are on the scene of a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic fatality at the intersection of 42nd Street and Havendale Boulevard in Auburndale.

Deputies say it happened around 6:00 a.m. and involves a uniformed deputy in a marked Polk County sheriff's office patrol car. Deputies say the pedestrian is deceased and the deputy was not injured.

Authorities say the east bound lanes of Havendale Boulevard are closed as PCSO traffic deputies investigate. The west bound lanes are open, however, but drivers should expect delays.
